How to survive the summer in style

Summer in the desert is difficult, to say the least. And it makes finding something comfortable to wear almost impossible. With the heat draining our energy, and our closets getting dusty, Winsome is here to help. Our favorite go to's for summer, from head to toe.

Everyday Staples

  • asymmetrical hems
  • maxi dresses
  • colored denim
  • bright colors and mixed patterns
  • florals
  • loose shirts and thin fabrics
  • simple layers

Pool

coverups: an oversized button down, or nothing but your suit! Who says you need to wear clothes to the pool? As for swimwear this season, no fuss hardware, simple lines and colors, color block bikinis and cute towels. A fun tip: take a dingy old towel and tie dye it for the pool!

Shoes

Sandals and wedges, or anything with floral patterns. Who needs to wear plastic flip flops when there are so many other cute options?

Hair

Whether you have long or short hair, nothing feels better than getting it off your neck when it's 100+ degrees. So throw it in a messy bun, or do the sock bun for an easy polished look. One of the easiest but cutest hairstyles? Braids! Braid your bangs, try a fishtail, or our favorite: braid the back and bun it!

Nails

Ombre nails are great if you do it right, but if it's too much effort, stick to neutrals with sparkly top coats or get floral decals that will last longer.

Makeup

The heat's going to melt it off anyway, so why cake on layers of foundation and coverup? Go au naturale and wear nothing but sunscreen. Or try BB Cream, like this one from Clinique. It combines SPF protection, antioxidants, and light coverage.
In summer, bright lipsticks and lipbalms in coral and pink colors are a must, and switch you blush to a bronzer.
